Generally, the usages of silica included: glass industry, porcelain industry, production of ferrosilicon, ceramic industry, production of limy sand brick, casting, silicate sodium production, production of other silicon materials, as a semiconductor in electronic industry and production of glass wool.
Noticeable amount of crushed sandstone used as building materials.
Used silica in every one of these industries should have specific quality, chemical compound, mineralogy structure and physical properties of silicone determine quality and its usages in anyone of said industries. Chemical compound of silicone included percentage of SiO2 in stone and percentage of other oxides used with SiO2 in different deposits and if percentage of every one is more than certain limit, its usage in different industries is being limited and impossible.
In addition to percentage of SiO2, stone mineralogy structure has role in determination of quality and its usages because SiO2 may be as types of silicates, thus, this issue will have effects on determination of mineral processing and process of impurities elimination.
Physical properties of silica have also effect on crushing and grading of produced silica powder and determination of usage items of produced powder.
Silica is ingredient of glass, silica combine with some materials such as feldspar, Nepheline, Soda and etc. to make specific types of glass.
Quartz is used to make different types of ceramic and WC equipment.
Cast and refractory materials:
Quartz and silica are resistant up 147   and used to prepare casting molds in metals such as steel, black iron, aluminum and copper alloys and also used as refractory  in making of steel ,iron, ceramic, glass and cement furnaces. It had other different applications such as using as abradant, polishing powder, filtration, combined with sand .It is used as high quality powdery materials to open gaps and increasing of permeability in production of oil and gas. The powdery form of quartz is used as filler in paint, plastic, rubber, putty and glue.
Sodium metasilicate:
Sodium metasilicate is purchased as clear balls, without water and glass powder or watery powder. This material is used to control the abrasion of water pipes and glaze and enamel formulation. Its liquid solution types are used in Saponification, industrial and general cleaners, glue, cement production, paint and covering, casting mold, ore flotation, peroxide stabilization and abrasion control in water pipes and silica precursor combined with zeolite.
Deposited silica:
Reaction of Sodium metasilicate with Sulfuric acid and Hydrochloric acid during certain conditions produced deposited silica that for its properties such as very high luminosity and low porosity is used as fine grain filler and anti-slip in rubber (Tire and floor coverage) PVC, polyolefin, LDPE film and fine pore separators in lead battery, distributer, carrier and many other items.
Colloidal silica
It is suspension from fine grain silica in watery environment that is used to make friction in paper and wood, welding of fiber fireproof materials, catalyzer and chemical precursor.
Silica, metallurgy type
Silica is made from reaction of coke and quartz in Electric Arc. Furnace in temperature upper than 2000 and had 98-99% Si. It is used in aluminum, steel alloys, super alloy, silica and chemical materials.
There are other types of silica and its compounds such as baked silica, pieces of silicone, silicone nitrate and etc. that everyone had specific applications.
Crystalline quartz
Clear and well-formed types of this material is being used to prepare lens and cone, making jewelry and ore sample, its piezoelectric property is being used in electronic.
Microcrystalline, porous silica with specific gravity 2.65, hardness 7, white to gray and etc. used as filler or pigment in paint, rubber, plastic, abrasive and putty, in addition, it used in abradant and polishing powders and tooth abrasive

Nano silica additive:
Micro silica is one of the materials that in current decades used in concrete and attracted the attention of building engineers. Due to typical pozzolanic properties of micro silica, its usage to improve mechanical properties and durability of concrete has increased in advanced usage in concrete had a lot of advantages included: decreasing of  fractures due to cement hydration , better durability against sulfate damages and acidic waters and attaining to final high resistance using types of concrete super plasticizers. other usage advantages of micro silica is decreasing of chlorine ions mobility and then decreasing of penetration depth of chlorine in concrete ,especially in southern coastal areas of Iran. its usage items are included concreting related to construction of marine docks, piles, columns and precast joints, automation foundation and all of concrete structures that are in impose of chemical attacks, specially chlorine ion and sulphates.
In current years, studies are concentrated on silica nanoparticles, it aims to use this material to increase concrete properties. Addition of Nano silica to concrete increases the pressure, tensile and flexibility resistance and decreases setting time and water permeability and increases resistance against chemical attacks. The conducted experiments on nano silica show that not only, these particles aren’t problematic for environment, but provide the better results in comparison with micro silica. Researches have showed that adding of nano silica more than micro silica increases the concrete resistance .Combination of nano silica with concrete in long term preserves health of workers, concrete and environment. Nano silica can decrease the cement usage, improves the concrete quality and increases efficacy.
Addition of 10% nano silica increases pressure resistance of concrete up to 26%, while same amount of micro silica increases resistance of concrete up to 15%. Even with addition of 0.25 % nano silica, we can increase the pressure resistance of concrete up to 10% and increase flexibility resistance up to 25%.

Sio2 Nano is a super advanced additive and it is based on nano technology that has designed to attain to specific concretes .usage of nano silica in concreting nearby the sea coasts has attracted attention of civil engineers .According to unique characteristics of nano silica such as improvement of mechanical properties and increasing of concrete durability, it’s using process has increased in advanced countries. Non-crystalline nano with very fine particles and nano diameter is suitable to use as a cementitious substance in concrete.

Usage and application of sio2 nano is according to ASTMC1240 standard.

Usage advantages:
With addition of nano silica to concrete mix, active sio2 combined with free calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2  in the concrete capillary pores and produced insoluble calcium silicate crystal and finally condensed cement paste structure and decrease permeability and increase concrete resistance .The advantages of this substance included increasing of pressure, flexibility and tensile resistance of concrete, increasing of concrete resistance against erosion, noticeable permeability decrease of  concrete, avoidance from chlorine and sulfate ions penetration and other destructive chemical materials into concrete.
Amount of consumption:
Exact amount of sio2 nano consumption is determined by workshop tests. Hence as a guidance, it is recommended that sio2 nano can add with 3% to 7% ratio of cement to concrete weight (it can replaced with cement because it increases concrete resistance).since nano silica can reduce water, it should use with Dezo super plasticizers. Otherwise, it fractures the concrete and reduced efficacy and rise to non- condensation of concrete.
Usage method:
When constructing the concrete , combine necessary amount of Sio2 Nano with dried components and then add water and super plasticizer.
